Minecraft and Raspberry Pi

If you have been living under a rock since 2009 you may not have heard of this world renowned game! It really has captured the imaginations of millions of people, all over the world. It has limitless possibilities and as well as the usual destructive traits in gaming (such as blowing up things using TNT blocks), it can also be peaceful and creative. It's rather enchanting too, with its low resolution graphics and blocky characters.

Kids especially love playing Minecraft and seem to get fully immersed in the environment. Rather than fight it, the club decided to go with it and now we provide parents with a service which allows their children to really have a mad, fully loaded experience for the day as well as give the parents the chance to have a day off or go to work, in the knowledge that they are safe and having an absolute blast!

We run in the school holidays, you can find all the information and book for the next camps here

Raspberry Pi

The Raspberry Pi is a tiny computer, the size of a credit card. It has a fully functional operating system and it is a great introduction to hardware as well as operating systems, installations, coding and more! One of the best things, in our opinion, about Raspberry Pi computers is that one of the Operating systems, has a copy of Minecraft installed. Now this in itself, isn't amazing, but couple this with IDLE (a scripting program) and you have a very powerful learning tool!

We've been using them in the Saturday clubs, to show the Ninjas how to code directly into Minecraft! Here is Aidan giving a demonstration of this during an event we did at Maplin in Stratford-upon-Avon.
